Understanding the PSA test

This section provides information that aims to help you decide whether to have the PSA blood test. The test can help to detect prostate cancer. This information can help you if:

  • you've heard about the test and wonder if you should have it
  • you have no symptoms but just want to check that you don’t have prostate cancer
  • you have symptoms that could be caused by prostate cancer.

More detailed information about screening for prostate cancer and PSA is in our health professionals section.
