Follow-up after treatment for CML

Chronic myeloid leukaemia is an illness that you can have for a long time. Treatment nowadays is effective and can keep the leukaemia under control for many years. In some people who have an allogeneic bone marrow transplant it can be cured.

After your treatment you will need to have regular check-ups and blood tests. If you have any problems, or notice any new symptoms between these times, let your doctor know as soon as possible.

For people whose treatment is over apart from regular check-ups, our section on adjusting to life after cancer treatment gives useful advice on how to keep healthy and adjust to life after treatment.
