References for the lung cancer information centre

The information in the lung cancer information centre is based on the Cancerbackup booklet, Understanding lung cancer. This booklet has been produced in accordance with the following sources and guidelines:

  • Lung Cancer. The Diagnosis and Treatment of Lung Cancer (NICE). February 2005.
  • Management of Patients with Lung cancer. A National Clinical Guideline. Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN). February 2005.
  • Guidelines on the selection of patients with lung cancer for surgery. British Thoracic Society and Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland Working Party. 2001.
  • Cancer: Principles and Practice of Oncology. Editors: DeVita, Hellman and Rosenberg. Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, 2008.

Guidelines are constantly being updated and those noted above may have been revised since the booklet was produced. You can access up-to-date guidelines in the health professionals section of the website.
