Concluding comments

Prostate cancer continues to pose challenges for clinicians and dilemmas for patients. However, newer treatment techniques may offer ways of improving efficacy and reducing some of the unwanted effects of treatments.  And clinical trials are helping to define the optimum combinations of existing treatments and the place of new treatments.

Improved access to clear information and open communication with health professionals will enable men to make treatment decisions based on their survival, personal values and also quality of life issues.
