Reaching more communities

Cancerbackup is committed to increasing access to cancer information and support for people from black and minority ethnic (BME) communities.

Currently there are over 1 million people in the UK whose first language is not English. In this section, find out more about resources available to health professionals caring for people with cancer from black and minority ethnic communities.

  • Background information - an introduction to providing information to BME communities.
  • Beyond the Barriers, Cancerbackup's guide to working with communities to provide cancer information.
  • Cancer Questions and Answers for BME communities. These can all be found within the relevant sections of our website, but are listed here to give health professionals an idea of some of the questions Cancerbackup has been asked.
  • Cancer In Your Language This is a confidential interpreting service on our freephone helpline. Find out more about this service, the languages spoken and how to access this service in this section.

We are continuing to develop this section so if you have any suggestions for resources we should include please let us know.
