2008 Backgammon and Bridge Tournament

Sunday 2nd March, The Reform Club, Pall Mall, London

The Reform Club played host to the ninth annual Backgammon and Bridge Tournament where guests were warmly welcomed with Champagne and Bloody Marys and the chance to become instant winners in the prize draw.

Lady Seely and Lord Archer

At lunch the entertainment started as Lord Archer conducted the auction with wit and determination and the crowd bid for fabulous auction prizes such as an a corporate box at Ascot, a ski package at ‘one of the ten best boutique ski hotels in the world’ and a cruise in the Greek Islands.

Lord Archer also upped the fundraising efforts by giving the guests a chance to Sponsor a Nurse and to bid for an editor’s signed copy of his latest book.

There followed an afternoon of competition and camaraderie as the real action hotted up – the tournaments!  The tournament attracted both social and International players, including Zia Mahmood, one of the world’s leading bridge players who decide to chance his hand at Backgammon this year.

Thank you to everyone who attended the Backgammon and Bridge Tournament and special thanks must go to our wonderful organising committee chaired by Lady Seely who worked so hard to raise a fantastic £40,000!
