HOW YOU CAN HELP > GET INVOLVED > BALLS! TO MALE CANCER > GETTING STARTEDBalls! to Male Cancer - getting started
Decide what to do
It’s easy to get involved in Balls! to male cancer. Firstly, decide whether you want to organise an event or get sponsored for a ball related activity. For extra support and to make your fundraising as fun and successful as possible you may want to ask your colleagues, local school or community groups and friends and family to get involved.
Sponsored events are great if you have a personal goal and would like friends and family to support you. You would need to order our sponsor forms below or you can quickly set up an online page on www.justgiving.com/cancerbackup
Holding an event can be good fun and involve your friends at the same time. You can either ‘charge’ an attendance fee or have lots of goodies to raffle off or sell.
Stuck for ideas? Take a look at our fundraising ideas page for ball inspiration!
However you decide to get involved our fundraising team will be on hand to provide advice and support every step of the way.
Please contact us on 020 7920 7252 or email us if you would like to discuss any of your Balls! to male cancer fundraising ideas.
Register your fundraising
Once you've decided on your fundraising activity, please let us know. We can then send you some fundraising materials to help you.
To register, fill in our event registration form (download from below). You could also register online but remember let us know on the form that you are holding a Balls! to male cancer event.
Order some fundraising materials
We have several promotional items to help you with your event and fundraising activities. Simply fill in our fundraising materials order form once you have registered.
These items are free but please help us not to waste money by asking for too much. Some items can also be downloaded from below.
Promote your fundraising
An event won't happen unless you invite people! Make sure you publicise your activity well in advance, we can provide you with posters to help you with this. You may want to design your own invitations – please email us to receive the Cancerbackup logo and guidelines. If you only keep in touch online, use an ‘evite’. Go to www.evite.co.uk for some great ideas.
You may wish to ask your local radio or newspaper to help promote your event. It can be a great way to spread news of your Balls! to male cancer activities. For more information on how to write your own press release, look at our press and PR section.
We can even mention your event on the Cancerbackup website, contact us on 020 7920 7252 or email us.
Sending in your money
Once your event or activity is over, you will need to count up the fundraising spoils! It’s best to do this with another person so you have a witness.
Once your Balls! to male cancer funds are counted, you should pay them into an account and send a cheque or postal order made out to Cancerbackup together with the completed donation return form (download from below) to: Cancerbackup, 3 Bath Place, Rivington Street, London, EC2A 3JR.
You can also donate online with a credit or debit cards. Please remember to include your reason for donating as Balls! to male cancer in the box provided so we can thank you properly.
We would love to see any photos you have from the event - please send them along with your donation and we promise to return them or email them to us at community@cancerbackup.org
