New NICE guidelines will make huge difference to young people with cancer, says CancerBACUP

25 August 2005

“The new NICE guidelines on services for children and young people with cancer are a big step towards equal services across the country,” says Joanne Rule, Chief Executive of CancerBACUP. “It will make a tremendous difference to young people with cancer to have services that match their age. These guidelines need to be implemented urgently. The next step will be to improve access to teachers and tutors for young people with cancer, especially tuition for patients who are university students. There are massive geographical variations.”
