I'm having keyhole surgery to have my kidney taken out. How long does the operation usually take?

Keyhole surgery to remove the kidney (laparoscopic nephrectomy) usually takes between 2 to 3 hours. But, you may be out of the ward for several hours longer than this. After the operation you will nursed in a room outside the theatre, called the recovery area, until you are fully awake and comfortable.
