No, renal angiomyolipomas are benign, non-cancerous, tumours of the kidney.
They occur in two forms, either on their own (the sporadic form) or linked to a condition called tuberous sclerosis.
The treatment is an operation to remove the tumour. The surgeon will try to leave behind as much normal kidney tissue as possible. As angiomyolipomas are benign tumours surgery is usually a cure.
