Treatments for lung cancer include:
- surgery
- radiotherapy
- chemotherapy
Choosing the right treatment depends on:
- the type of lung cancer (small cell or non-small cell)
- the stage of the cancer
- the size and position of the tumour
- your age, health and general fitness.
Chemotherapy is the most commonly used treatment for small cell lung cancer. For non-small cell lung cancer the stage of the cancer and your general health and fitness affect what is the best treatment.
Once your specialist has all the details about your cancer they will be able to say what is best for your situation.
