Advocacy and influence of Cancerbackup Scotland

Cancerbackup Scotland participates in the following national groups and organisations:

  • Scottish Partnership Agency for Palliative and Cancer Care - an alliance of voluntary and statutory bodies concerned with palliative and cancer care services in Scotland.
  • Scottish Cancer Coalition - a coming together of the leading cancer charities in Scotland. The Scottish Cancer Coalition has developed a review of recent developments in cancer services and made "calls for action" in the following areas: Prevention; Equity of Access; Education and Patient & Public Involvement; Research

Cancerbackup is also a member of the Cross Party Group on Cancer in the Scottish Parliament and contributes to the work of the NHS Quality Improvement Service, the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines network (SIGN), and the NHS Scotland cervical Screening Programme National Advisory Group

Cancerbackup Scotland has participated in the following regional initiatives:

  • Redesign of ovarian cancer services at North Glasgow Hospitals NHS Trust and Forth Valley Acute Trust. West of Scotland Managed Clinical Network for lung cancer.
