Research - clinical trials

It is not clear for some types of cancer whether regular tests and appointments are helpful once treatment has ended. Your doctor or research nurse may ask you to take part in a trial to see whether tests and regular appointments at the hospital are necessary. They will give you information about the trial and what it involves. You can choose not to take part in the trial and this will not affect your doctor’s attitude towards you.

Cancerbackup can also give you information about current trials that may be relevant to your situation.

Cancerbackup has a section on Understanding cancer research trials, which explains clinical trials in more detail.
