Loss of self-esteem

The diagnosis of cancer may make you feel very vulnerable. You may feel as though you have lost your independence and no longer have control over your life.

You may feel tired and stressed. It may also seem as though things you used to find easy are now much more difficult. This can make you feel that you have lost your confidence.

It can be difficult to cope with, but you may find that your own ways of adapting to your illness give you a new focus and sense of control. However, this can take some time to develop and your confidence and self-esteem will need to be built up again gradually.
