Talking to children with learning disabilities

Children with learning disabilities may need a different approach and support to help them in their understanding of a parent's cancer. Often, children with learning disabilities find it easier to understand information if it is presented as pictures rather than written text. A book called Getting on With Cancer is available from the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

The British Institute of Learning Disabilities gives advice and support about communicating with children who have learning disabilities.
