Breast reconstruction

This section is for women who have had, or are about to have, breast surgery as a result of breast cancer, and may be considering whether to have breast reconstruction. It aims to help you understand what breast reconstruction is and the possible benefits and problems you might expect from this type of surgery.

It is very important that you discuss all aspects of the surgery before making any decisions. Every woman's needs are different. So only you – together with your doctor and any family and friends you want to involve – can decide what might be best for you. Give yourself plenty of time to weigh up the potential benefits and disadvantages of breast reconstruction before making a decision.
