Useful websites for clinical trials

A lot of information about cancer trials is available on the internet. Some websites are excellent, others have misleading or out-of-date information. The sites listed below are considered by doctors to contain accurate information and are regularly updated.

  • www.ctu.mrc.ac.uk - Medical Research Council Clinical Trials Unit
    Contains information about clinical trials.
  • www.cancerhelp.org.uk - Cancer Research UK
    Contains patient information on all types of cancer and has a cancer research clinical trials database to allow people to identify suitable trials.
  • pfsearch.ukcrn.org.uk - National Cancer Research Network
    Has details of all National Cancer Research Network research trials.
  • www.cancer.gov - National Cancer Institute - National Institute of Health - USA
    Gives comprehensive information on cancer and treatments, including trials in the USA.
  • www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk - NHS Direct online
    NHS health information site for England. Covers all aspects of health, illness and treatments.
  • www.nhsdirect.wales.nhs.uk - NHS Direct online for Wales
    NHS health information site for Wales. Covers all aspects of health, illness and treatments.
  • www.nhs24.com - NHS Direct online for Scotland
    NHS health information site for Scotland. Covers all aspects of health, illness and treatments.
  • www.intelihealth.com - drug and medicines information
    Easy to use and free from medical jargon. Has patient information leaflets which can be printed off.
